Yoga helps you develop mental clarity, emotional stability and physical wellness. But a majority of us are unable to fit it into our hectic schedules. But if you want to start the New Year of 2023 feeling healthy and active, it’s time to start practicing yoga daily!

Yoga is more than just physical activity. Yoga which is derived from the word ‘Yuj’ a Sanskrit word which means to unite the mind, body, and spirit. Therefore, yoga is a symbol of unity. There are various practices within the system of yoga and some of these include yoga postures known as asanas, pranayama or breathing exercises, mudras, chanting, philosophy and more.

Not limited to any one aspect, the practice of yoga can make you a better person in so many different ways. Firstly, yoga brings order, discipline and clarity to the practitioner's life. Yoga is a way through which you can connect with yourself. This means that you are in sync with your life energies and can now channelize them in any which way that you want. 

Create Structure

Begin the New Year with a yoga practice at least three times a week. Start your day early with a few cycles of sun salutation; follow this with some breathing techniques and you can conclude with meditation. Alternatively, you can also start your practice with breathing, chanting, postures and end with meditation. Along with Surya Namaskar, you can also practice these postures individually. 

Yoga strengthens the mind-body connection, it's a highly effective tool for long-term change. Attention and observation through mindfulness makes us aware of our automatic patterns, while intention and practice reinforce new desired behavior. Whether it's a New Year's resolution or something you want to improve at any time of the year, yoga and meditation provide the means to make change and stick with it.
